Dan Uggla kept hit hitting streak going with a 1-6 yesterday and to have long streaks you have to have those bad days that keep things going. Uggla now has a 30 game hitting streak and just another fun thing going on this baseball season.
14 games ago the National League Central was wide open. That is until the Milwaukee Brewers went on a 12-2 winning streak and the Pirates, Reds and St Louis went into the tank. Ok ST Louis is only 4 gaames out while Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are thinking about next year.
The San Francisco Giants still have a half game lead in the National League West, but seem to have found their sea legs. This division is going to go down to the wire as the Diamondbacks proved that having the big bats is a very nice thing to have. Arizona fell behind 1-7 early in their game against Houston and those big bats came alive for a 11-9 comeback win. The last 18 home runs that the San Francisco Giants have hit, have all been solo shots. One more and they will be tied for the longest such streak in baseball history. I believe it was the 1914 Philadelphia Phillies. Right now they are tied with the 2005 Boston Red Sox for 2nd on the historical list.
Speaking of Boston. The Red Sox after having the Yankees take over first place 4 days ago, decided that just was not going to work. Boston has won 4 in a row and what will keep the Yankees from winning a playoff series, their starting pitching has reared up and New York has lost their last 3 games.
Detroit still has a 3 game lead over the Indians and a 4 game lead over the all of the sudden hot Chicago White Sox. The Indians got a much needed 14 inning win against the Detroit Tigers late last night, which can really keep the Indians in contention. If Jimenez can rise and beat the Tigers today, things can get really interesting. I have a lot of respect for this Indians team, who could have fallen off the face of the earth like the Pirates have after the Jerry Meals Bullshit. The Indians have not burned it up but have done whatever they could have to hang in there. The White Sox have won 5 in a row and despite themselves, have come to life at the right time. The White Sox are only 5 games out and anything can happen.
Texas Rangers have done whatever it takes to stay in first place despite their closers poor performance this year. The Rangers are holding on to a 1.5 game lead and do have the better ball club overall. The Angels will have their top starter miss a very important start because his ego got the best of him and team didn't come first. Weaver will miss his start against the Yankees and if his team loses that game, I guess being shown up after a home run it is more important to make sure you do not look weak. That is a bleeping joke. Grow up worry about your team and throw at the guy who showed you up another time, hell another year. I will give the Angels all the credit in the world as everyone gave the Rangers the division before the season started.
At 76-40 the Phillies are just the best team in baseball. Between the starting pitching and the starting line up. From 1 to 8 their hitting is great and they have speed where they need to have it and they are the best fielding team in all of baseball. Going to be very tough to beat.
The line on Tiger Woods is 10-1 and really it should be 70-1 or 100-1. Tiger Woods has no chance to win this event and it could be a really long time before mister Woods is even in the hunt to win again. Get off it media guys he is just another player. He is not even top 20 in the United States.
Baseball 115-129 +5.90 units
Atlanta -120
Colorado +155
Washington +110
Milwaukee +120
Chicago White Sox -120
Have a great day.
