Teams that do not have hitters who can hit 20 to 30 home runs in a season must do the little things perfect. When a lead off hitter gets on base, steals a base with no outs, what must the next batter do? The next hitter must lay down a bunt, hit a long fly ball or hit a grounder to the right side. Do not hit a off the plate pitch hard to the shortstop. Ok so that's one out and a runner on 2nd. Up steps the highest paid player on the team who will get paid 15-18 million a year on his next contract. Well he swings at the first pitch, which would have been a ball. 2nd pitch almost hits this batter but he is swinging. 3rd pitch goes off the plate and because the shortstop is out of position, the superstar swings at should have been ball 4. 3 pitches and all out of the strike zone. YOUR OUT. Of course the next guy swings at 2 balls and hits a long fly ball to the deepest part of the yard.
What should have happened. The 2nd hitter hits a ground ball to 2nd base and the runner goes to 3rd with one out. The Super Star takes a few pitches and works a nice walk. The 4th place hitter, who is hitting over 300 for the year. Well he hits the long fly ball and TEAM scores a run, playing team baseball.
I watch games from all over the country everyday and all players care about in to many cases is their own stats that bring the TEAM down. It is sad that unless you are a really big time player that you do not put the TEAM first.
The team I am talking about won it all last year and did all the little things right. No egos got in the way of this team doing all they could to just win. Amazingly while playing as a TEAM, the group as a whole had a decent year hitting. Nothing special but with no STARS that is the way it had to be done. Back to my point. Because of mental breakdowns and selfish players a good man and a good hitting coach will be fired. The players will get paid their millions and not give this coach a second thought.
It happens all over baseball and the teams that play as a TEAM are the teams that can shock the world.
Started with a list of 10 possible plays for this weekends college football. Getting the information I need from the people closest to some of the key players in these match ups. Will also look for line moves with or against us. Hopefully I can land on just a handful of plays that will get the season off to the right start.
I will give this Thursday play right now........Bowling Green +7.5
All other plays will be posted right after kickoff.
Have a great day
