Methadone, Soma and Valium, A cocktail for disaster. The poor young man from Alabama had no idea just what he was dealing with. I have 6 empty discs and the surgery that has been suggested for 15 years now is full disc replacement. The recovery time is one year, the chance to never walk again is 7%.
What do I do to stay active? I take pain killers and muscle relaxers. I have tried to not take these pain relievers but doing anything at all brings tears to my eyes. My injuries started when I was a +2 handicap and headed to the PGA tour.
For me I would never take Methadone because it builds up in your system. What this means is when you take 2 then 2 more it doubles up in your system to act as 8 pills. What Methadone also does is slow your breathing.
Valium also slows you down and slows your breathing, this is not for pain as much as anxiety. Add soma to the mix and you get knocked out and your breathing slows to a stop.
A doctor knows what the interaction can do to you and I would be shocked if these drugs were given to him by a doctor.
I am in pain 24 hours a day and for me the opiets keep me awake and the soma allows me to sleep. It is also very easy to build a tolerance to these pain killers. When I first started taking these drugs, I though what a godsend. One day I ran out of a script and got a huge wake up call. It had been months on these drugs and when I didn't have any I did not know what was happening. I could not sleep and I was sweating and did not know why I could not sleep.
Withdrawl is what I was going thru and It was no fun at all. After 3 days of this I went to the hospital and they gave me a couple of things that knocked me out I was so grateful after 3 days of hell. I was thanking everyone.
These kids in College who are in pain from 2 a days and odd injuries. Will lead to taking drugs which needs to be watched by a doctor. The wrong mix will kill anyone, no matter how tough a kid in college thinks he or she is.

Baseball plays for Monday
I must have a fever because I have a number of favorites today and yesterday I went 2-0 with favorites.
Baseball
40-44 +2.60 units
Colorado -120 The Rockies hovering around .500 on the road and very happy to leave New York. Today they have a positive pitching match up and although they have lost 2 in a row, the Rockies are 6-4 over their last 10 games. The Cubs are a pathetic 16-22 at home and are already looking to next year.
Toronto/Detroit Over 9.5 -110 Scherzer for the Tigers is 9-3 but doing it with smoke and mirrors with an E.R.A close to 5.00. While the Blue Jays pitcher will be lucky to get thru 5 innings and that leaves the game up to a suspect bullpen. Both teams are on mini winning streaks right now and should be confident at the plate.
Tampa Bay -125 The only bad part of this play is the Rays are only a .500 team at home. The Rays come home on a 4 game winning streak and are 8-2 over their last 10. The Reds to this point in interleague play have only won 2 games and are only 4-6 over their last 10 games. The pitching match up favors the Rays and this will be a surface switch game for the reds after playing a number of games outside. The Reds will take at least a game to acclimate to playing in the dungeon.
Minnesota -115 This homestand is going to make or break the Twins season. They were the hottest team in baseball for over a month but trips to San Francisco and Milwaukee produced a 1-5 record. Although the Twins have lost their last 5 games they still are 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Dodgers got a small confidence boost yesterday but they still cannot hit the ball worth a hill of beans, rarely scoring more then 3 runs in a game. The Twins finally are playing a team where they have the better starting pitcher and bats that are better then their opponent.
Kansas City +130 Here we have the meek playing the meek. The odds make up the difference and a rare play on the Royals is the way to go.
Washington +125 I always make a play on the new manager when their is a change. The players will want to show their new boss that they are as hot as it seems on paper. It also helps that the Angels lost a game they had won yesterday in the other teams last at bat. This is a hangover play one of the most powerful plays in all sports. Lannan for Washington has been very good his last few outings and always will go deep into the game. The bullpen for the Nationals is rested and ready if needed. It also helps that the Angels have about the same record as do the Nationals, Home/Away.

The Gritty Gutsy Dozen in Baseball 2011
Unless you are a fan of a rival of these teams, you have got to love what the Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels, Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants.
I know that is a list of 12 teams which is almost half of all of baseball but that is how baseball is set-up. There are only a handful of IT teams that are supposed to win and the public views this as the cream is always the ones to rise to the top.
You have to ask yourself what causes a team to all of the sudden get better or out perform what the so called experts think that a team should or can do?
With the Arizona Diamond backs have done in such a short time is amazing. They added a closer but not a lot of veteran leadership but for one huge addition. Kirk Gibson is a winner! He always has been and always will be a winner. A guy who played with injuries and a leader when he played the game and now young men are trusting him to manage them to a Division title. With no added superstars or a huge ace on the mound. Kirk Gibson is worth all they are paying him and more.
New York Mets.... Before the season as happens in New York, you are supposed to win and nothing but winning matters. They got off to a slow start and the owner jumped down their throats, the media cried foul and the team was a pile of manure. On this team with Veteran leadership on the field it started to come around. No huge winning streaks or any major trades{almost the opposite shopping their all-star shortstop} in this case the players did not sit on their paychecks and let the season go down the drain. The players did something that does not happen enough, they showed pride in their team, their city and themselves.
Tampa Bay Rays.... This rising team in the off season let almost all of their team as a whole sign all over the country. I think when that happens history shows us that when teams get torn apart losing is the only thing that can happen. Hold the phone, the Rays have played great baseball with the 4th best record in Baseball. 3rd in their own division but tied for the 4th best record in Baseball. they are behind the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies and tied with the San Francisco Giants. What has set this team up to be this good is that the Rays are road warriors. When the Rays play out of that dungeon that they play in which has only allowed them to go 19-19, on the road a great record of 26-16! It also helps that the starting pitching is strong and their defense is solid. Fun to watch when they are on the road.
Pittsburgh Pirates....A young starting pitching staff, a solid young bullpen, a closer that is a work in progress. The Pirates also have a young hitting line-up with a bunch of speed and what this team is short on talent they make up for with pure determination. The manager has done a great job of making sure this young team stays focused and let's them play. Not to many rules but just enough to keep them in line. The Pirates are 4 games out of first but they cannot rely on any big trade for a big bat or a super ace, so they will have to rely on what they have right now. It might be to soon to say division but give them a couple seasons and they will be playing for a division title soon. Pittsburgh is a very fun team to watch and a team that will stay around .500 all year which makes for a profitable bet on most days. What also has given the Pirates this surge is the 20-18 road record. What seems to be a common thread with these up start teams is the fact that they play well on the road.
Cleveland Indians....With that road statement being made, we come to the Indians. Even with a 3 game losing streak this team is only one game out of first. The Indians were not supposed to be a game out of first this late in the season. The Indians in fact were counted all but out as spring training broke. The Indians are a fun team that can bash it when they are on but some of that is catching up to them right now. They only have a couple of good starters and a so/so bullpen but they also play loose and have a good time out there. The thing that will hurt them as the season wears on is a 16-22 road record. Although fun, gritty and gutsy the lack of pitching will be their undoing. Trades will happen to break these guys up if they fall to far back and some of this talent will help someone win a division.
Kansas City Royals....I have had so much fun watching this team this year so I included them on this list. This team just needs to find some mid level starting pitching to help the Royals young talented line-up. The Royals play good defense and when down in a game they have a ton of fight. It is to bad that they cannot find a way to hold the other teams down early in ballgames. In the next 3 years the Royals will be fighting for a little more then respect. As the road goes 10-21 so goes a good team.
Toronto Blue Jays....Cito Gaston left again and lt looked like the Blue Jays were an afterthought again but a guy named Bautista starts hitting homeruns at under 1 per every 7 an bats and they are important again. With the Blue Jays it is so much more then one guy hitting homeruns though, they have a decent trio of starters and a really good top of the line-up. Betting wise a decent road record of 22-21 which is a bunch of road games at this time of the year. If they can get hot at home you never know what this team is capable of. Of course the one true down fall is the division they play in with 3 top 3 records in the American league ahead of them in the division. A fun team to watch with a young rotation and a superstar in the making. Keep betting them and even if you don't bet them the Blue Jays are worth watching.
Baltimore Orioles....Bucky's team has a lot of talent and a no nonsense manager. Baltimore started off very hot, cooled down to ice age status, now on the way back up the ladder. Sign of a good team, but alas it will not last as happens with young teams the Orioles cannot win on the road with a dismal 13-21 record away from Camden yards. I am sure in the next couple of years all of the talent the Orioles have will mature and their manager being the star he is will have them in a division race sooner then later. Management is behind the team and when the time comes the organization will do whatever has to be done to get this proud franchise to the top again.
Seattle Mariners....Not packing the house yet but Seattle is begging for a winner. The Mariners tried to sign the high priced free agents and that did not work, but now they are building around a solid rotation and good defense up the middle. Ichiro Suzuki is still the main attraction and will get to 3000 hits in a Mariners uniform in very fast fashion. Felix Hernendez is a true ace and Fister has great numbers despite his won/loss record. Management will do whatever it takes if the Mariners stay in the race and there is no reason to think in the west that they will not be right there at the end. It is a weak division where a simple 4 or 5 game winning streak will give any of three teams a huge edge coming down the stretch. The Rangers have suspect starting pitching and the Angels lack in the offensive department.
Los Angeles Angels....They go as their manager goes, with a decent starting rotation and a gutty line-up the Angels never stay down long. They show this with an outstanding record of 24-20 on the road and will very often steal a victory in a losing situation. Another team that takes it's lead from their manager. Mike is a winner, a winner as a player and a manager. He demands respect and the players are happy to give it their all for their skipper.
Washington Nationals....This team is a little different, management went out and bought some talent here. If you cannot win in the nations capitol then where can you win? A fine young pitching staff lead by a true inning eater in veteran Livan Hernandez. The Nationals are built on great defense, pitching and timely hitting. Werth was supposed to be the big stick but while making a ton of money, he is having a tough time....So far. He will come around. This team is going from a players manager to Davey Johnson, who has a bunch of rules and can be strict. While playing loose and free this team has done a great job, it will be very interesting to see how the Nationals do under a totally different sort of manager. If they can improver their road record to .500 they could make things very close by years end in the East. No doubting that the Phillies are the best team in the National league though.
San Francisco Giants....I know adding the World Champions here is odd, but no one seems to know they are the CHAMPS. The Giants are tied with the 4th best record in all of baseball while only being 26 in scoring in baseball. The Giants have the right formula to win, lot's of pitching and just enough offense. Buster Posey the rookie of the year went down 6 weeks ago while the Giants were 8 games over .500, now they are 10 games over. 500. Freddy Sanchez went down a month ago, a former batting champion and at the time the hottest hitter on the team. Somehow the Giants keep winning. The media doesn't take notice of them and Arizona is talking like they have won the division already. Their G.M will make any move that he must to keep the Giants in the playoff hunt and their manager, manages his players. Mixing a matching his minor league line-up every game. The Giants have had the most Disabled list moves of any team in baseball but somehow this under rated team with very little power keeps winning. And no one in or out of baseball even knows they are the World Champions.
That is my dirty dozen of fun teams to watch in the second half of the season.

Baseball yesterday was OH so close to being so, so, so good. A very small loss with a 100 player losing 10 bucks. The 4 angle game was won by the Pittsburgh Pirates, which is always a good thing when powerful angles come thru.

The baseball night was very nice yesterday with a 4-3 record picking up 1.90 units. Today is a very strong day and night in Baseball. This is the best card I have seen all month. Hot teams are playing cold teams and those teams that are hot are UNDERDOGS. It is all systems go today.

Colorado +220 Are you kidding me? Cook for the Rockies is a sinker ball pitcher who can give the Yankees fits. Sabathia is a fine pitcher but at -260 is a bit much. Yankees are only 5 games over 500 at home while the Rockies are 1 game over 500 on the road. +220 Really ?
Angels +125 The Dodgers over the last 10 games a 3-7 record, while the Angels are a mirrored 7-3. The Angels are 23-19 on the road, Dodgers 18-23 at home. The pitchers are very close but overall team play goes to the Angels. As usual the true kicker +125.
Washington +150 Nationals have won 4 in a row and are very hot right now. White Sox just under 500 at home and only 5-5 in their last 10 games while Washington is 9-1. You also have a very even pitching match up here as well. The true kicker which makes this a strong play on the underdog is the hangover affect with the White Sox losing in an epic game yesterday.
San Francisco -130 I would play this game all the way to -150. The Giants have won 3 in a row and win 60% of their games at home. This is a very strong angle and one of the few angles I will play a favorite.

Toronto +130 A good solid pitching match up here, so it comes down to hitting and odds both on the Blue Jays side right now. St Louis last 10 3-7 and feeling the loss of their all-star first baseman.
Minnesota +140 Both teams in a cold spell right now. Worth a play on the Twins at +140 to see if they are done with their huge comeback for their season. I think they put it all out there today or slide back to out of there.
Pittsburgh +130 Boston 3 losses in a row, Pittsburgh 3 wins in a row. There is an angle that also says play against a team that has lost 3 in a row and are favorites on the road. It gets very powerful when the team they are playing has won 3 in a row. This is a 4 angle game. Very rare in handicapping.

Baseball Thursday June 23 rd, 2011
With a couple of 4-3 losses leading the way, it was a tough June the 22nd going 0-3. Get mad or get winning, I choose number 2 Bob.

Baseball can be tough at times and when you play underdogs bad days do happen, but the wonderful thing about baseball is that there are more games every single day.
Washington +120 It amazes me how under rated Jason Marquis is these days. He is having a decent year on a team that is playing good baseball and he is a solid home dog.
San Francisco/Minnesota Over 6.5 This year I have seen the lowest totals across the board then at any other time in baseball. The weather is hot in San Francisco and the ball does carry well during a day game. Timmy has not pitched well and the Giants are struggling with the bats but the total is to low here.
Kansas City +110 These teams have very even records home and away, so +110 or more looks good.
Philadelphia -110 You know your starting pitching is really good when a quality starter like Roy Oswalt is your number 3 guy. This was a huge series for ST Louis but when Puljos went down with a broken forearm right before the series, the offense has gone into STOP mode. Carpenter for the Cardinals has a decent E.R.A but a brutal 1-7 record. That record in most cases would not bother me but the Phillies are just to strong to overcome with all the troubles the Cardinals are having.
Oakland +140 The Athletics can now see .500 and if they continue to play like they are now and with their starters throwing well, Oakland will get into contention in the West.

A little Horse racing and A lot of baseball
I have a full card of baseball today, with all plays being against the grain. Should be fun, I also have a Pick 4 at Delaware Park and a nice 12-1 Morning Line longshot at Delaware Park.
Yesterday 2-2 in Baseball +.50 units
Baseball overall 25-23 +5.50 units
Seattle +110 Fister has strong overall numbers, you cannot just look at his overall record. The Mariners have had a very good season. Livan Hernandez has about the same numbers as Fister but as the season rolls along Livan is getting up there in age and does not have the staying power he once had.
Pittsburgh +105 These two teams are playing about the same record wise but the Pirates are trending slightly better then Baltimore over the last 20 games or so. Guthrie has a decent E.R.A but is snake bitten record wise. McDonald on the other hand, not a good E.R.A but a 5-4 winning record shows he has had a little better luck. The records are the same the pitchers are close and the Pirates are at home. They should be -120 so plus money looks good.
Oakland +130 The Mets are playing well and Gee is 7-0!!! So why Oakland? they have won their last 5 games and the team is playing well under Bob Melvin, so riding the small wave to a +130 or more by game time.
Arizona +110 This is a little bit of an odd line with Kansas City at -120 which makes not a lot of sense here. Arizona has a better record overall and both teams near 500 away and home. While the pitchers are the same guy. The offense has a slight lean to Arizona so +110 is the way to go.
Detroit -120 This line is right on the number but I will take the better overall team here. But for last night where the Dodger pitcher was great throwing a 2 hitter with 11 ks. That is the only way that the Dodgers can win right now as their offense is, well offensive.
San Diego +180 This is a nice little angle play here with the Red Sox being tired from running the basses all night, scoring 13 runs with a 10 run 7th. Before that inning it looked good for the Padres. Not to be they got their head handed to them.
New York Yankees +125 If I played them at -105 with the feeling that the game was doggie style, +125 looks really good. For whatever reason Cincinnati is having an awful time with inter league play, only winning 1 game so far. This may cost the Reds the playoffs, Dusty Baker never did like inter league play.

What is, ISN'T and what ISN'T is or be backwards and WIN
Yesterday was a nice winning day with the Yankees playing well, but the game that made my day was the Cubs at +150. Zambrano pitched great after the first inning and that is why I love the mind part of handicapping.
When you look at games and do your handicapping, do you ever look at the MIND side of things? When I do my handicapping I always like to look at things that may be going on with a team as a whole or individual players. One of the easiest Mind bleeps to look at, is when a team blows a big lead late. In the very next game no matter who they are playing or what sport, you play against the team that lost the game before.
In baseball this is when a team blows a 7 or 8 run lead at any point of the game. Also in baseball if a team has a 5 run lead in the 7th or later and losses. Also 4 run lead or more in the 8th or 9th inning. If a team losses this type of game their mind will still be in the mind set of we should not have lost yesterday and before they know it......Bam they are behind early and often today.
This works in all sports. What we as handicappers forget is these guys are human and not machines. A simple mind game is taking a pitcher that lost his last start against the same pitcher in his last start. People are quick to assume that the same thing will happen, but what goes though the mind of the winner is, I won last start should be a cakewalk. What goes through the loser of the last game is, I need to buckle down and I do not want to lose to this guy again.
The odds will be slanted to the winner of the last meeting and you will get better odds then you might have before that last game. In both of these situations you really want to be the underdog or a small favorite.
Here is a nice team bleep angle. When a losing team fires their manager. You go with this team with the new manager because the entire team will be on their toes. This season Oakland fired their manager on the way to Chicago to play the Whitesox. It came so fast that I waited until game 2 of the series to play Oakland with their new manager in place. As with all of these, the team must be a dog or a small favorite.
Superstar down angle. This is really good in football. The first game a quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, defensive back or linebacker go down to injury. You play ON the team that lost the big name player. You will get the best of it when it comes to the spread and everyone will be on the other side. They do not put the spread out there to give people free money.
The most important piece of the football puzzle is the CENTER. If the center goes down, pass the game or go to the other team as a play. Look at the Oakland/Tampa Bay Super Bowl, which would show you an all pro center for the Raiders going crazy and Tampa Bay killing the Raiders all night long. I am not saying Tampa Bay would not have won the game anyway but when the man who runs the show on offense is not there...... Line play implodes.
Back to what started this rant. The Yankees went into Chicago to play the Cubs and word on the street was that the Yankees were going to leave town with Carlos Zambrano. Zambrano had to be licking his lips and packing his bags but it did not work out and Zambrano was still a Cub. My thought on this was that Carlos Zambrano would come with his A game and +150 looked like a wonderful bargain. Bingo! he pitched really well after the first inning and the Cubs got the win at +150.
These are just a few instances where the numbers do not make a difference but the MIND makes the profit.

The ode to the pass during a a small bad patch
Saturday I went 2-4 in baseball, but was fortunate by only losing one full unit. I will keep harping on it and when my point is made I will bring it up again. Going into Friday I was 20-14 +7.90 units. Not earth shattering, but respectable.
Friday and Saturday combined 3 wins 7 losses, with a total loss of 2.90 units. you may be saying well what a loser, and for those two day I was a loser, but to only lose 2.90 units is a great feat. If it was the NBA 3-7 would equal a loss of -4.40 units, again you may be saying whats the big deal? the average player will play 30 to 40 games a week and that savings of 1.5 units every 10 plays does add up.
I never plan on losing, as none of us ever do but bad streaks do happen. Overall I now stand at 23-21 +5.00 units and in a spread sport this would be a losing proposition. Just using the current numbers, playing 100 per game I would be down 10 dollars. With money line wagers I am actually up 500 dollars. I love the money line games.
I will say this however, I look to hit 57 to 60 percent in spread games and have a track record of doing so.
Back to the headline of this entry. THE ODE TO THE PASS! I was not feeling it at all Sunday after a few tough 1 run losses........So I bit the bullet, enjoyed the day with my daughter and PASSED.
The amazing thing is I would have had a losing day today as well. With the aide of record keeping I was able to look at those records and see that I do not do well in this weekend of interleague play and knowing this was able to save money today.
I also looked back at the last 5 seasons and lo and behold saw that I do very well in the week coming up. Playing underdogs there will be bad patches but the offset of those money lines will keep the players making money instead of paying up YO.

Saturday Baseball Inter league style
Yesterday a rare losing night. Inter league can be tough but we will fight on.
Baseball 21-17 +6.05 units
Atlanta +100 A rare favorite here for me(this was a favorite overnight, went to +100) but the Rangers get stopped by good pitching, and Lowe is a good sinker ball pitcher who should shut the Rangers down.
Chicago Cubs +135 Another case where good pitching does get to the Yankees and as it would often happen when a star goes down a team plays much better. The Cubs have been playing their best baseball of the season since Sorriano went on the DL.
Milwaukee +160 They have big bats and one game will not get me off of them. The Red Sox have a tough time against top notch pitchers as many good teams do so the odds make this a solid play.
Florida +130 Nolasco is the better pitcher here and he will get the struggling Marlins back in the win market.
San Francisco -105 Another small favorite, the Giants on rare occasions will lose three in a row and Oakland has a really tough time with lefties.
Philadelphia +135 I know how great Hernandez is for the Mariners, who are having a great year but Philadelphia is one of those rare teams that wake up versus top notch pitchers.
I will update these odds for record purposes Saturday Morning. Lines have been updated and are listed as current.
Just a note, even while going a poor 1-3 we only lose 1.85 units. Playing underdogs makes the bad days not so bad and the good days build very quick when getting +120 to +180 all the time.

Pittsburgh +130 It is amazing, if you look at the home and away records of these 2 teams, they are almost the same which is amazing to me. After the first few weeks you would have thought Cleveland would have a much better record. Pitchers close, Batters close and records almost the same. Take the plus money.
LA Angels +115 I will admit at +120 I would like this play just that much more. It is about the long run remember, but I will take this very even match up. The play was made by the fact that the Mets play ok at home and seems like they would much rather be on the road. The Mets also lost a game they should not have yesterday and their play will show that.
Milwaukee +120 Pitching match up makes this a play.

Baseball Thursday after another winning day
Yesterday 3-2 +1.40 units
Just steady as it goes, winning 5 days in a row. No 5-0 or anything like that but winning days and thats all that counts.

San Francisco +130 The Giants are are a roll right now with amazingly better bats right now and one the hottest pitchers in baseball on the mound. So little respect and every day a nice PLUS. It is great to be on these guys at the right time. Voggelsong gave up 2 runs in his last start. That broke a 6 game streak of 1 or 0 runs. Do not know what the Giants are going to do with Zito. Arizona is young and this series was a big deal for them. To show them if they were for real or if they were still a step or two away. If Arizona wins tonight even 1 out 3 would be a nice boost for this young team.

Cleveland +120 Penny will be a very nice relief after Verlander had his way with the Indians last night.
Baltimore +150 After 3 bad starts Arreita bounced back in his last start with a solid outing. Romero has had a good year but as the season goes on the wear and tear will catch up with him.
Minnesota +120 A very hot Minnesota team gets +120 at home a must play here, all odds.
San Francisco +100 Baumgarner the bet 3 win pitcher in baseball with fantastic numbers. Pablo returned yesterday and the offense had a nice night. The Giants are one of the least respected World Champions ever but keep giving the players plus money and the players will keep collecting.

Texas Rangers +130 The bats are even and Sabathia gets hit verse teams over 500, also both teams 5-5 last 10 so +130 does not look that bad.
Boston Red Sox +115 The Red sox are smashing the ball and are really on a roll, and we get +115 so why not play this very hot team. Shields probably has a slight advantage over Wakefield but in the dome the knuckle ball will be lead.
Pittsburgh +110 They have a pitching edge, a hitting edge a overall record edge but the reason I am playing the Pirates..... they have more road wins 17-15 then the Astros have home wins 13-22. Houston is a team who really shouldn't be laying -130.
Minnesota +120 You do have the same situation here with the White Sox having more road wins then the Twins have home wins, but a huge difference here. The Twins are as hot as a team can be right now and history tells us that the Twins are a good home team. It is always about price and in this case you are getting +120 not laying -130.

To Wager or not to wager that is the question
I have heard it many ways and done it all ways possible. I have heard that you must wager everyday because you may be in the middle of a winning streak and not even know it. I have heard that in the middle of a nice run you must increase your wagers. I have to admit that is the one I do not plan on doing because at the highest wagering point you will then hit a cold streak.
I know that at the start of the week I was not running that well but by weeks end I was almost hitting everything and yesterday I posted a perfect layout of how and why Dallas would win and how and why they would win it all. I could not have been more correct and on a public forum.
My baseball ended the week with a 10-3 end of the week run picking up 8.5 units in the process, so I was in a very good place so I took the day off. I did not see any plays the grabbed me and said it was a must play.
I liked Boston in the NHL but the odds were not right and they kicked Vancouver ass tonight which sets up a nice game#7 in Vancouver. I stated in the Dallas post how high a percentage that game 7s go to home teams and the odds will be way out of control so a pass will be on the line.
The point is that if you look over that days games and you see a reasonable play or 10 reasonable plays. A play is a play weather you are getting married that day or sitting around watching said plays.
If you see not one game that will give yourself an advantage then PASS there will a whole slate of games tomorrow. This also applies if you are tired or getting sick and just do not feel that loving feeling for the day. PASS, PASS, PASS.

Who has to win? Dallas or Miami and Baseball for Sunday
What team for the NBA final is in a must win situation for Game # 6 ?
Well it must be Miami they have to win to stay alive you stupid jerk, you may be saying to yourself right now. As Lee Corso might say(Not so fast my friend).
Sure Miami does have to win to stay alive and if they lose they will be called failures, fakes and losers. That is also furthest from the truth as you can get. This is the first year for these 3 wonderful players and with time they will accomplish a lot maybe 2 or 3 championships.
The arrogance of Wade was laughable as he said this is the greatest threesome of all time before winning anything including 60 plus games in a season or even achieving a number one seed. I would take Bill Russell, Cousey and anyone on those teams as the 3rd player. How about Bird, Parrish and Mc Hale? Maybe Magic, Worthy, and Kareem. Hell even Garnett, Pierce, and that former Sonics gaurd who this year set the record for made 3 pointers. Last but not least Jordan, Pippen, and any number of players in that 3rd spot.
James, Wade and Bosh could become great but they have a lot to prove and will have to get used to one another and that will come in time if they can also think as well as play the game. The ignorance of acting like Dirk was faking a fever even though Dirk did not make a big deal out of it, just made Dirk work harder in the next game not good mind games there children.
All that being said they can still win it all and if they win game #6 history shows us that game#7 at home are won almost 80% of the time in all sports.
So it becomes a must win for Dallas because they do know the odds if they do not win game #6, the pressure is so ramped up against Dallas that they will really have to withstand the first 5 or 6 minutes and do not choke out of the building.
Here is why they will not choke out of the building and it will take something very special from the big 3 for Miami. I mean like 30 plus points from all 3 and the Miami bench out scoring the Dallas bench for only the 2nd time in the series.
Also Dallas and this TEAM have been building to this championship as the Bulls did and as the bad boy Pistons did. In the NBA most of the time Champions build to that special finish after a few failures but keeping most of the pieces of the puzzle together.
Kidd, Terry and Dirk have been here before and have not finished it off, Kidd did not really have the option to finish it as he was on 2 Nets teams that were not that good.
After those 3 guys who have waited a career for this game#6 the difference besides total bench points, experience and working together for a while will be Shawn Marion. If he is athletic tonight and shows his true grit it will open things up for everyone one the Dallas side of things.
It is a true must win for both teams but when it comes to all around team basketball and using a teams mental stability look for Dallas +5 to end the Miami Heat season.

Dog, Dog, Dog why the Dogs
Hopefully every handicapper has run into a situation where his friends and other handicappers, think that he is nuts because he has gone against the grain.
A wonderful example of why dogs, and why go against the grain showed it's beautiful face yesterday. I bet on 4 underdogs in baseball all a bit suspect but the price gave the plays merit.
These plays are tough for most handicappers to take but true handicappers know that the ugly play wins more often then the easy looking play.
Most people that bet on games look at the odds find the largest favorite they can find and that is the extent of their research.
This why that at least 95 percent of sports bettors lose over the long run.
In the middle of the college football season last year I had a friend who just cannot play a dog no matter what and of course he was buried up to his eye balls. On Friday night he calls me and says I need 4 plays so I can put my last 200 on a 4 team parlay. I say do not play these 4 games in a parlay and 2 of these games are very strong, so if you have to play any parlays, please play these 2 early games in a parlay then split the other 2 games as straight play.
I do not play parlays and would never suggest it but my friend was down 1500 and had long since lost more then he could afford, so I suggested this style of play to help him get out of debt and live to play on Sunday and future weeks.
Before I gave my friend his plays I got a hold of who my friend was playing on credit with and he agreed that I could help this man out. He had lost a bunch and even a bookie does not want to see someone get so far into debt that there would be problems later.
I gave my friend 4 College football underdogs that ranged from +4 to +11 and all 4 teams had the better defense and looked as though they could control the football game. All 4 were road underdogs and the home teams had better records but the lines were public driven and the book makers needed the dogs as well with these plays.
At halftime of the early games I get a call from the credit giver, he says you really told mister public to play 4 favorites you do not play favorites? I simply put my head down yelled a few Mfers and tell him not a chance you know I play dogs.
Long story short, I win all 4 games and the 2 games that were my 2 unit selections win outright while the other 2 covered but lost close games.
My friend knowing what I do and has seen me receive checks from legal sites, could not get himself too play the dogs and as he told me late that night that he just really liked those 4 favorites at home.
The line makers DO NOT make these lines to give away free money, you must grasp that to become a winning player.
The 4 baseball games tonight 2-2 but the Cardinals +125 loser, Oakland +100 loser 2-3, Dodgers +140 Winner, after 2 tough losses they bad a decent pitcher on the mound and their bats were alive in Colorado so the price was the way to go. Washington +110 Winner, The Nats have been pitching great and playing great defense, San Diego have had no hitting and really shouldn't be favored against anyone right now. No matter who is on the mound. 2 wins 2 losses and a half unit winning day. Not world beater but the lines provided a profit.

Yesterdays result at Belomont Park was not what I was looking for but when the hose didnt goto the front it was over. The odds of 17-1 were right and the bet was made. Finished last, next.

Belmont Park Race 8 on a big day of racing 6/10/2011
There are graded races all over the place at Belmont Park today. The value for the day does come in race 8. A 25,000 claimer 6 Furlongs on the Turf. I am looking at a speed horse that has run at least it's last 5 races on the dirt while traveling quite a bit. This horse went from Calder to Gulfstream Park and finally to Belmont Park, finishing a dismal 4th out of 5 horses.
But wait there is more, this horse showed good speed and faded down the stretch in her last start, this is often a good sign for future starts.
This horse also runs for a trainer that does very good with horses switching from dirt to Turf today and this horse gets a jockey switch today, to a hot David Cohen and gets a small cutback in distance, from 6.5 Furlongs to 6 Furlongs.
Belmont Race 8
Horse #4 Lila Louann 12-1 Morning Line and in order for this to be a win bet proposition, I want off odds of 10-1 or more.
Look for a wire to wire score from #4 Lila Louann at a nice price. If you like exotics put the 4 on top of the field in your exactas and single her in Pick 3 and the late Pick 4.
The posted play of Dallas over the total was an easy winner yesterday and the game did follow the script as I saw it.
My email plays went 2-4 in Baseball with Florida again losing by 1 run and the Giants getting shutout 3-0, and the Dodgers blowing a big lead late in the game.
When I look over a losing or winning day I want to see that win or lose that I was on the right side. I can say I got everything I wanted out of all 3 games but the final outcome.

My email plays went 2-4 in Baseball with Florida again losing by 1 run and the Giants getting shutout 3-0, and the Dodgers blowing a big lead late in the game.
When I look over a losing or winning day I want to see that win or lose that I was on the right side. I can say I got everything I wanted out of all 3 games but the final outcome.

Reverse the revrse of what the public sees
Yesterday, I won with the free play on this very site, but overall I had a losing day by going 1-1 in baseball. Splitting both games in well pitched extra innings. In the NHL Vancouver with all of their antics woke a sleeping giant and pulled a no show and lost 0-4. A 2-2 night is nothing to be proud of but statistically it is tough to go 1-1 in extra innings , it is a 50/50 prop all day long in that situation. IT HAPPENS.
Tonight is pivotal Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Miami will be at Dallas again, with the Mavericks only chance to win it all, is to win tonight.
The public as usual will look at the last thing they saw, which was a low scoring hard fought game and will probably act as such. Looking at the Heat and the under. I had mentioned in an earlier post that the Dallas bench play was the key to any game they might win and it was their bench that won them games 2 and 4. Dallas bench 27 and Heat bench 15 in Game 4 a Dallas win.
I will not look at the side here but after 169 points in Game 4, I look for a high scoring game. The total is posted at a series low 184.5 and Dallas -1.

Interesting Sports Blog - Selections and Commentary A good friend of mine has started writing a Blog pertaining to Sports and wagering. He'll give his opinions on anything in the sports world - he has been right on with the Ohio St/Jim Tressel mess - as well as give out wagering advice on sporting events.
He gave out the Dallas MAvericks in Game 2 as his biggestplay of the post season. He usually gives out 1 pick on the blog, and will give out a few more for people that email him. Yesterday's email contained the Dallas Mavs in Gm 4 as well as 3 winning dog plays in baseball, highlighted by the Nats over the Giants.
I told him that if someone didn't email him and get those selections, they would probably roll their eyes when told aboutwinning selections. So...I've told him to put more selections on the blog, less selections via e-mail.
Since I met him and started taking his advice, I've never had a losing year. Football - NCAA and NFL - is his specialty with his College Bowl selections nothing short of phenomenal.
I realizetalk is cheap. Thats why I would suggest you guys check it out, monitor his selections, and if you are a sports wagerer use his picks and make some money. Winner Dallas and 3-0 in Baseball and OH JIM
Tuesday night was another winning day for the Sportsdevil. I gave out the Dallas Mavericks and went 3-0 in baseball with all three winners being underdogs. For those of you who emailed me thank you so much I will have another free game right here and I see 2 nice baseball plays for Wednesday.
I said a few days ago that it was the tip of the iceberg at Ohio state and lo and behold after promising the NCAA and Ohio State university that he would stay in school if he was allowed to play in the Bowl game, Terrell Pryor has announced that he is leaving school.
Pryor's attorney said he was doing this because it was in the best interest of his teammates? Look for the other 4 players to jump ship as well and hopefully they were paid as much as Pryor, with estimates being from 20,000 to 40,000 dollars.
I will bet that this is a low number, it is probably closer to 100,000 and the use of cars to any number of Ohio State players. What a shame this clean program ruined by a few stupid players. That is a stupid remark, this is a dirty program and everyone in Ohio knew about this corrupt bunch of punks.
Jim Tressel was the leader of this gang. Do not believe for a moment that Jim knew nothing of it as he called or had text messages to Pryor and his handlers while all of this was coming down on the head of this joke of a man.

The Auburn Tigers have got to be loving this Ohio State mess because no one is looking into their bought national championship. They paid for Cam Newton and a number of their other stars and Ohio State has everyone looking their way, what a nice thing for Ohio State to do. The scope of the NCAA will find their way to Auburn but for now they are safe.
The NCAA has to feel as though everyone is cheating with USC losing their championship this week because of Reggie Bush and at Tennessee not only was their football team tainted by one year of Lane Kifin but their basketball program laughed in the face of justice, when it came to the NCAA.

NHL playoff pick for Friday June 3rd 2011
Many players that, well to put it as nice as possible..... are LOSERS tend to look at one result when making their losing selections, Yesterday's result.
The main reason this takes place is that it takes little brain power or a suckers play.
Game 1 of the NHL finals was an outstanding contest that was played to a standstill with the best team coming out on top with a late Goal.
The John Q public gambler will look at this final score and assume that is how the entire series will go with 2 hard hitting teams playing low scoring games. Look a little deeper and you will find that the goaltenders played at a very high level and honestly both teams were a little tight.
Game 2 will feature a a couple of loose teams that are ready to light the lamp. Thomas for Boston tends to be an every other game goalie and this is the other game. Luongo on the other hand has been very steady but after a shutout or a 1 goal game has given up an average of 2.88 goals against. That is still a high quality of play but above Luongo's goals against for the playoffs.

NBA Playoffs Game of the year
Finals Game #2
Miami Heat up 1-0 in the best of 7 series.

Miami comes into this game 9-0 at home in the playoffs. The big 3 look unstoppable with Bosh leading the way. He has had the best all around game for the Miami Heat with Wade and James doing the scoring.
In Game 1 the Dallas Mavericks got out rebounded by the Miami Heat 10 total boards and a staggering 10 offensive rebounds. That is a dominating number to work with. You can see why the Heat came back in the second half of game 1.
In Game 1 Dirk Nowitzki was held under 50% from the field for only the 2nd time in 11 playoff games. Dirk got little help from Peja Stojakovic, JJ Barea and Brendon Hayward who combined for a total of 5 points!
A weakness for the Miami Heat all season and into the playoffs, has been their bench scoring. In game 1 they outscored the Dallas bench 27-22. The Dallas Mavericks bench has been one of the top scoring squads all year, look for a big turn around in game 2 for the Mavericks.
Getting out rebounded and with little help from Dirk Nowitki's supporting cast, Dallas found a way to only get beat by 8.
This will get us to a favorite angle in the playoffs, play the team that lost the previous game outright against the spread in the very next game. What makes this a 2 unit selection, is that Dallas was dominated on the boards and players that average 23 points a game were held to 5 total point. It was not the defense that shut these players down but very poor shooting.
Look for the Mavericks bench to rebound and outscore the Miami Heat bench and win this game outright.
