Will the NFL get the boost it needs from it's youth?

College Football was a good thing on Saturday with a 6-2 mark with the single unit plays and a solid 2-1 with the top selections. It always amazes me when a team like Texas Tech can beat Oklahoma at Oklahoma one week and the very next week at home get blown out by Iowa State. Things like that will never make sense.

The Stanford at U.S.C game, lived up to the hype and was a sloppy game of ages. U.S.C played a great football game with Stanford able to run away with it at the end. Stanford has a really solid running game. The game against Oregon later on should be a fun affair.

The NFL is here and there are not many plays but enough to have a fun Sunday. The fun game of the week will be Ponder at Newton. I mean Minnesota at Carolina. The two young quarterbacks should put on a great show.

If the Broncos and Tebow beat the Detroit Lions this week, hopefully the Tebow haters will see that this young man is a winner. He is not a typical Quarterback and he runs to much, but a win over the Lions will show that Tebow just has IT. If the Lions lose they will be on their way to a solid 8-8 record. As a Lion lover this would be a crappy way to see that the Lions still have a long way to go.

Baseball was great now Football must be divine!

What a great World Series! Not just because game 6 was one of the greatest games of all time or at least top 10 all time, but we had it nailed with St Louis in 7 games. The baseball season ends on a high and the average fan showed interest in the game.

Game 6 brought the average fan into the game and will have an impact over the next couple of years. No steroids involved. As with the last great shot in the arm{no pun intended} with Mark MC Guire and Sammy Sosa hitting home runs in bunches to bring the fans back to the national past time.

The playoffs were a true money maker for the Sportsdevil!

Overall record of the entire season 196 wins 195 losses PLUS + 37.00 units

The 2011 Playoff record an amazing 31 wins 17 losses PLUS + 25.10 units

With the Cardinals leading the way by picking up 7 units for getting to the World Series!
This is a post season I will never forget. Not for the great play but the great plays.

Now we concentrate fully on the rest of the football season. College and the NFL. I have a lot of work ahead to make sure this football season ends up in the black. Right now it will be an uphill climb. I am having the worst football season I have had in 18 years. That is the last time I had a losing football season.

All I can say is there is a large number of easy looking favorites covering any number and that will always spell LOSER for me. When the average guy can open his or her newspaper and just point to any favorite at any number and win without handicapping at all. I have faith because I am used to winning and when the dust clears we will have had a winning year.

There will be no 10 unit or 100 star plays. There will be one and two unit selections. There might be one or two 3 unit selections but that is doubtful. I have had 9 of those in the last 18 years, so that is not what will save our football season.

To suck is to Rick ask UCLA

So UCLA will have a new coach sooner then later. Those kids are in the Pac 12 south and with a win yesterday could get to the top of the south division. It is not that they lost it is the fact that these kids did not give any effort whatsoever.

Tonight Rutgers is a solid single unit selection, no matter what this coach will have those kids ready to play.

Game 2 of the World Series was a very good game. I applaud Texas for fighting back and winning National League style ball.

World Series game 2

Yesterday I took St Louis and the over so a split in game 1 of the big dance. Tonight I look for Garcia at plus 110 to pitch well and give the cards a 2-0 lead going to Texas.

The starting pitching is just not strong enough right now to take the Cardinals down in this series. The other factor is the number three hitter for the Rangers, Hamilton has been very quiet with no home runs in the playoffs.

The series will be decided by by pitching and defense and Tony La Russa will play small ball the best out of the two teams.

Tonight I have a massive play on UCLA, which is tough to do with a team that has not done much over Ricks run at coach of the Bruins. Arizona is just not that good and as a handicapper you must look for bad lines and Arizona giving up 5 points is a bad line. There is no smart money here as the Bruins will run the ball right down the throat of the Arizona defense.

Dan Weldon a tragic loss

Its Monday Night so it is time for football. You have two teams reeling but the Jets should win right? Not so fast folks. I look for a high scoring close game with the Jets getting out of there with a close win.

The Detroit Lions coach does things all the time when his team wins. He back talks to other teams players and in the first quarter of the Niner game made it a point to show up the Niner's head coach. Caught on video as everything is now days. Shouting across the field, know the rules dumbo! He chases down the other coach 30 yards to act like a jerk. Grow up. you dish it out, so you lost and have to take it.

We caught the best of the odds when we had Milwaukee +400 and ST Louis +700 to goto the World Series. It will be a very exciting well hit series.

My heart goes out to Dan Weldon and his family after his death on the track in Las Vegas yesterday. One of the true known stars of the Indy circuit. He leaves behind a loving family, a wife and two sons.

Huge game #5 in the National League tonight

This is a fantastic angle game in the National League tonight. The series is tied a 2-2 and Milwaukee played a very solid baseball game yesterday. Not only did they win the game but had a number of well hit balls that did not contribute to any offense.

The Brewers played great defense and after falling behind played very loose the rest of the way. When the Brewers are having fun they really do play their bast baseball. They got contributions all up and down the line up, not just from their stars. In order to win any series at this time of year, you must have the not so known get some big hits.

Yesterday although I had the over, it was great to see the aging Wolf pitch a great ball game. He only game up 2 runs over 7 innings which was the first time he had gone past the 5th inning in 13 starts.

A big part of the win was not only Wolf but the fact that the Brewers did not act like loud mouth punks. They just played happy go lucky baseball and worried about themselves and not their mouths.

Today you have a rematch from game one where Greinke got hit around a bit but got the win. Garcia was not as fortunate, taking the loss for his less then top effort.

This happens to be a rematch angle which is one of the strongest angles in baseball. This is where the same two pitchers that got the win or loss face off in their very next start.

This is also helped by the fact that Milwaukee was the only team to make the playoffs with a sub .500 record on the road during the regular season. this is also true so far in the playoffs. As great as Greinke is at home, he is opposite on the road. This is an odd thing since at home it is a hitters park all the way. Garcia on the other hand has been wonderful at home which does make sense. In St Louis, it is more of a pitchers park.

I have to admit I would usually only be looking to play the Cardinals in this one but Garcia has thrown more overall innings then he has ever thrown at any level. I see runs being scored early and often with the Cardinals bullpen holding it down late.

During the regular season, I would pass the total or play the under. Tonight however it looks to be a higher scoring affair.

Hawaii -4 this line is at 5 right now but I will buy to 4. Hawaii should destroy the secondary of San Jose state. The weather is supposed to be decent in San Jose tonight and I can see Hawaii throwing for at least 400 yards. Hawaii also has a slight rushing edge. The reason this makes a difference, is that Hawaii does not run the football often. With that double advantage, running and passing look for a blowout in Northern California.

NHL 0-0 The start of a new season.

San Jose -130 The Sharks are loaded again this year and somehow have gotten better then the team that has made it one step away from the Stanley Cup the last 2 years. The Sharks fans are some the biggest idiots on the hockey planet. That is tough to do with many east coast zanies out there in hockey land.

A quick note here. Look for Lane Kiffen to take a big hit with the crap he pulled with his one year at Tennessee. This guy is a great football coach but he is dirty. He left the Vols holding the bag with his one season of cheating. The NCAA is not done with Lane yet.

I had a friend ask me if Tiger woods would ever win again. The easy answer is of course. the real answer is, until he goes back to Butch probably not. To many swing changes in a relative short amount of time and to many personnel changes that he needs to mentally get rid of. The 2nd thing may take a lifetime to overcome but the going out and just playing golf might be a long way off.

The punks and the quietly confident do battle again

Talk about nothing to complain about. The playoffs in baseball have been spectacular so far and just want to keep it going.

Looks as though Harrison has had a tough time with the Tigers line up with an ERA around 7. The only thing that bothers mew with this play is the weather. The Tigers have some bumps and bruises so the wet weather could be a bother.

The National League game is very interesting. I always looked the Cardinals as bullies. In this case the bullies have been the Brewers. Maybe not bullies but loud punks. Albert Puljos already shut the mouths of idiots by tearing the cover off the ball with 3 doubles, a home run and 5 RBI in the last game. I guess you will not be hearing the Alberta comment anytime soon from anyone with the Brewers.

Now it is Carpenters turn to shut the punks up. The Brewers have their own problems on the road. They score less and give up mare on the road then they do at home. The Brwers need to worry about their own team rather then the actions of others.

I do not think the Brewers are punks but they need to just play baseball. When this team just plays it is a wonderful, fun and exciting team.

Milwaukee and ST Louis and coming out party in the NFL

Looks like the bullpens are torched already in this National League series. Both starting pitchers having bad numbers home and away while both offenses score a bunch of runs home and away. This game #2 looks to be another high scoring affair.

I will take a shot with the Cardinals as well. Looking for another crazy game as it looks like the leagues have changed places. Texas and Detroit are going to play low scoring tactical games. Milwaukee and ST Louis are playing 3 run homer ball.

Saturday 10/8/2011 NCAA Football and Baseball

As noted on this blog at the start of the playoffs. Take Detroit to beat the Yankees, Take Milwaukee +400 and ST Louis +700 to win the National league championship. Well we have won money on those plays.

Detroit won in a great series and Milwaukee or St Louis will be representing the National League in the World Series! For price would love to see the Cardinals be the one but will take whatever comes down the pike.

The Philadelphia Phillies have got to be sick as another weaker team has kept them from the promised land. The Giants last year and now the Cardinals this year. Maybe this team does not have the heart to dig deep and make it happen. Maybe this team is happy with its World Series a few years ago. Whatever it is, hopefully no one loses their job and they keep this team intact. I love their whole team that has the pitching and hitting to get to the World Series for the next few years.

Detroit -105 Detroit will not have a letdown after such a tough series. Jim Leyland and his team had no doubt that they would beat the Yankees. Their manager kept to his word and saved his ace for game one of the next series. The Tigers as a whole want to win this for their manager as much as themselves. This man showed that he had faith in the whole team not just his stars.

After a great game 5 in the American league, look for more of the same today. I look for a well played game in the Milwaukee/Arizona game. Milwaukee will find a way to grind it out in another low scoring game.

You can not overlook the Cardinals tonight even with Halladay on the mound. You also have to question the Phillies heart with their bats going silent at the wrong time of the year.

NCAA sterts here and the Yankees end now

A perfect 3-0 in baseball yesterday with the Milwaukee over leading the way. Tonight I will stick with the Detroit Tigers and Fister on the mound.

80 percent of the play will be on the Yankees because of their big win in the last game. It is not always the last game that counts. The players will not be thinking of the last game. The Yankees have a rookie pitcher on the mound and it is a tough place to have to perform. Look for a low scoring hard fought close game.

Regular college football has not been great so far. With a record of 28-30 and the top plays being 9-7, it is time for a nice run.

I did not give it out as a play but I did play The Colts yesterday. I just love when I start hearing how a team cannot lose to another and the pace that the Bucs play at made it very tough for them to cover such a big number.

Lets go crazy in the NFL and Baseball

Yesterday was a small winning day in college football and a painful losing day in baseball. I have to rive the Rays all the credit in the world. Tampa Bay refuses to go down easy. It would have been very easy to just take their loss on Sunday. The Rays beat to their own drum. They fought all the way to the last strike.

The weather in New York may have saved the Yankees season. Detroit has gone through their two best pitchers and are down one game in the best of 5.

Today in the NFL, I have an array of plays from the seemingly easy to what were you thinking. Jacksonville shouldn't even be on the same field with the mighty Saints?! I am a huge believer in defense over offense and with Jacksonville we go to the extreme.

The game I will be watching, Detroit and Dallas. It will be a good game and just how far have the new age Lions come?
