FREE BASEBALL PLAYOFF SELECTIONS ARE HERE!!!

Well the end of the regular season was a real hum dinger or as ol J.R would say a real slobber knocker. The Rays not only stunned the Boston collapse sox but may have hurt the Yankee bullpen moving into the playoffs.

I am sure the last thing the Yankee fans needed was over use of their suspect bullpen. They have one of the best closers in the game or the history of the game, the middle and late guys are not up to championship stuff.

The fun thing that did happen is that two teams on the way up got into the tournament and two teams that were dead are fishing or playing golf.

Tampa Bay a great story, with what happened and how it happened it was truly the work of movie of the week. The only down part is that they are stuck with a rookie starting game one of a 5 game series. Moore is very talented but game one in the playoffs will put a new stress on the young man. If Tampa can get a split in Texas all bets are off and Tampa could be the San Francisco Giants of this years playoffs.

Detroit is all set up. Starters and bullpen alike are all lined up to make a serious run at winning the whole thing. I have said all year that the Yankees will not bully their way through the playoffs. The Yankees pitching is not up to a real run at winning it all.

Texas comes into the post season with quiet confidence. The Rangers went about their business and feel they have unfinished business to take care of. The only weakness is their closer who can be lights out or lit up. If their closer shows up it could be a very nice run to glory.

The St Louis Cardinals showed a lot of guts coming down the stretch. With Atlanta wilting and the Giants unable to score more then 2 runs a game, the Cardinals did what they had to do and took the wildcard.

Everyone has already given the Phillies the National League pennant but the Cardinals had an excellent 6-3 record against the would be champions{just ask the media}. The Cardinals are in a great situation with a split being the goal. I say a great situation because the Cardinals have nothing to lose. The middle of the ST Louis line up matches up very well against the Phillies and last year Cliff Lee showed that the post season can cause stress in even the best in the game.

The only series I believe is a done deal is Milwaukee over the Diamondbacks. Ian Kennedy will win game one in a nail biter then it is all down hill from there. It says a lot when a team has Grienke as their 3rd starter. The only downside I see to that is Grienke has been a monster at home with one of the best records in baseball at home.

I will be playing the Detroit Tigers +130 to win their series against the Yankees and will enjoy the other three match ups. You may say well if you believe Milwaukee is a lock why not play them. No matter what you have to get the correct odds in order to make any wager and in general I do not like to lay the wood.

I also believe that the Cardinals will give Philadelphia all that they can handle but the +240 is not enough to play them. I will in fact play Milwaukee +400 and ST Louis +700 to win the National League pennant.

The reason I play it this way is simple. If the Phillies play the Brewers, there is no way that they get +400 in the series. If the Cardinals play the Brewers or the Diamondbacks there in no way that I would get +700.

Today's Playoff baseball plays. Record for the year 165-178 +13.35 units

Tampa Bay/Texas Over 8 -125. Both teams have excellent records against lefties, along with the fact that both teams score over 4 runs apiece. There is more. After all the Ray's had to do to get to the dance and the fact that their starter only went 2 innings in the clinching game. Will leave their bullpen used up at the start of the series. The Ranger closer can be touched up late in games as well. I see this total being hit later and off the bullpen.

Detroit +120 A very nice ACE versus ACE angle here which you always play the underdog. Overall in this series the starters, the middle relief, set up men all favor the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees do have the best closer in the history of baseball so if the Yankees can bully their way to a high scoring lead then they will have every chance at winning. The odds here make a play on the Tigers.

Detroit/New York Over 7. Hello! This is an American League park which yields close to 9.5 runs a game. Where a simple fly ball to right turns in to round trippers. The Tigers score 5.3 runs a game against lefties. The Tigers tend to work counts and will keep Sabathia at a high pitch count. When Sabathia goes, in comes a less then great middle relief group of pitchers. The Yankees do not have that veteran pitcher that can guile his way out of tough situations. They have no specialist to get that key out or late double play ball. This is the lowest total between these two teams in recent history.

Detroit series win +130
Detroit game one +120
Detroit game one OVER 7 -120

Tampa game one OVER 8 -125

Baseball playoffs start today

Nice to get that NFL play on Washington home. The baseball playoffs it seems will start today although the 4 teams will not be playing one another.

You would have to feel that ST Louis has a huge advantage in the National League.

The American League is a tough one because Boston has been so very bad this month.

Boston by all rights should have the upper hand but a good college team would have a chance against the tightening Sox.

Tampa is playing free and easy just as their manager steers his players.

My front runner to win it all is not the Phillies like most people but the Detroit Tigers with Verlander and Fister leading the way.

Have a great day.

A big time College Football Saturday. The smaller the school and the uglier the play the better it is

The Baseball playoff picture is becoming very clear but for the Wild Card in the American League. With all of these double headers, the Boston Red Sox will be a pitching mess if they do make the playoffs.

The Tigers with Verlander and Fister leading the way look very strong in the American League. What a wonderful break for Fister going from last to first. Going from getting 2 runs of support a start to almost 5 runs a game. That really makes a difference.

After a very disgusting loss with Central Florida yesterday, I look for a nice bounce back today. Central Florida lead in all facets of the game but the almighty score and turnovers. I am not great with names but number 9 for Central Florida lost the game almost all by himself.

Although I did get paid right after the Utah game against U.S.C I reflected the game as a loss in my records. For up to 3 hours after that game I was 7-3 with my top plays. In a odd situation where some Nevada sports books kept the score as the game ended and had Utah as the ATS winner. Some sports Books paid both sides which is remarkable. Some other Books paid those Utah winners off right after game time and paid the U.S.C backers the next day. The Utah bettors who did not cash their tickets learned the next day that they were losers.

Have a great day.

Play what you see not what you want

Odd time to get hot as can be in baseball, but it really has been great. One thing I have seen at so many posting sites, is that a team is going to win because they have to. That is about as stupid and losing a statement a winning handicapper will ever make.

I also saw yesterday that the Yankees would not try to win so they could stick it to the Boston Red Sox. Well The Yankees had to win to clinch a playoff spot and were going to do all they could to win the game.

The teams that have to win will at times not play to their ability, or play tight because they have to win. Stay with proven points to win all year long. We were able to play the San Diego Padres at Colorado knowing that the Rockies were starting none of their stars. The Padres on the other hand were playing all of their starters.

The Philadelphia Phillies in the last week said they were not going to push their starters past 50 or 60 pitches and would be resting their stars and I still could not pull the trigger and get paid by playing against them. The amazing thing was how many people played on them laying huge odds. After losing crying fix. I is not a fix when they announce what their plans are.

Some baseball and what is going on with all of the injuries in football

very tough push on the total in the NFL yesterday but still stand at 5-3 in the NFL which percentage wise I will take all season. Regular plays in College Football stands at a 18-15 mark and the double plays are at an outstanding 70 % 7-3. Baseball has gone on a nice run, after a 1-2 yesterday we stand at 159-171 +11.50 units.

after many ups and downs during the season to be up over 10 units feels great. Proving once again that even 12 games under 50/50 we can have an outstanding season.

If I can get to 50./50 it is a huge baseball season. Yesterday a few people had Arizona as their game of the year and my question is simple. Why would you lay anywhere from 235 to 250 as your play of the year. A 1-0 final with a runner on third and one out had those people wondering about their selection.

There has been a number of big time injuries in football so far and Kansas City was a bad football team as it was but without Charles this season just got longer. The Chiefs really have to be careful for o-16, do not know how they will score with zero running game.

I really hope the 0-2 start for Cam Newton does not ruin this mans confidence because he has done all he can for his team to be at least 1-1 on the young NFL season throwing for 854 yards but the 3 interceptions kept his team from winning this last Sunday.

There is another epidemic in football this year as well, kickers cannot make extra points. I know extra points have hurt me and my clients in a big way early in the season. Hopefully this turns around.

I have had a number of new clients who have passed on the ugly plays which of course have won. People just cannot play games where they believe the bigger school will not lose or at least cover. The line makers do not put lines out their to give away free money.

The biggest pass this week was Temple over Penn State and even though Temple lost the game they were never in trouble of not covering the number which is all that matters.

Every service in America but 2 had the NFL game going under yesterday and I was one of the
two. The reason I played the over was simple without Jackson the Rams were gooing to pass out of their no huddle offense. Injuries and all did not matter because the game was extended because of the inability to grind the clock out.

It was a push but that is what happens when you settle for field goals from 1rst and goal from the one yard line.

Baseball 159-173 +11.50 units

Florida -110 tough for the Braves to snap back after tough loss

New York Mets +160 a hot team with good odds always a fun thing

Seattle +100

Angels +125 out but not dead and 31-24 vs lefties.

Pittsburgh +215 The D backs are in the middle of a down cycle only to be against as a dog.

I do have a nice slate of college football this week. I believe it will be an outstanding week with only 1 double play but the regular plays look the best they have looked all year.

The spread will scream as to what is going on.

Be sure to watch line moves during this time of year in all of football. They can be very meaningful as you have to figure out if the line move is a public move or the smart money. If it is a game that is ugly and the spread is moving towards to so called bad team, you have to think that the professional bettors are sending in the money. If it is a public team then it is the happy fans of a team bringing in the losing money. The spread is the great equalizer!!

Yesterday a very solid 2-0 picking up 2.90 units. The Washington play was a classical virgin pitcher making his first start and getting odds. There is no book on these first time starter and the other team has a tough time with those virgins. A final of 2-0 did show that the Mets had a very tough time with someone they had never seen.

The other game was an Odds play against a team that is feeling the stress of a pennant race. There has been a lot of finger pointing and to top it off after the game Prince Fielder decided it was the best time to say this will be his last year with Milwaukee. What was he thinking? Suck it up and try to win it all right now.

If it looks like a gift, return it

The NFL is back and a 3-2 mark was a good way to start the season. Hopefully this week in College Football the little things get done right. To many missed extra points and teams kicking chip shot field goals. Hawaii with 2 missed extra points and one being run back for two killed a very solid play.

The NFL is a tough place to bet this week. There many games that look like gifts. There are no gifts in the NFL. If it looks to easy go the other way or toss it out. The spread is the great equalizer! If you remember that then you will always be a winner.

In order to win in any sport you must be willing to play games that do not fit your eye. Games that look like they have no chance are the games that will make you a winner in the long run.

Week one in the NFL, take it easy. 19 weeks left

Week one in the NFL can cause problems to many handicappers. The main problem is being to excited. Handicapper will sometimes see things that do not exist. The favorites will look so great that the average player will not be able to see the forest through the trees.

Rule one. Preseason does not count. It does not matter if a team went 4-0 or 0-4. What I really like to see in week one are teams that look like they are up and coming. I like to see teams that have the same coaching staff and same offensive coaches. I like to see teams that did well on offense or defense, to have added a piece or two. If a team that all of the sudden picked up a bunch of new players, early in the season it will take time to work well together.

Teams that lost a center during the preseason are an early play against, no matter how many other stars that the team might have. All you have to do is look back at the U.S.C game on Saturday. There were no less then 5 plays that the center cost his offensive mates to fail. Take a look at the Super Bowl, when the Raiders got beat by Tampa Bay. Robinson lost his mind in the days leading up to the big game and was a no show. Result, Tampa won the game easily.

The center takes care of all line calls and controls the ball on every play. look for teams that have been making steady progress over the last two or three years. Look at teams that have solid offensive and defensive lines. Lines that have been together for a while. Maybe a team that has added an all league guard or tackle but the rest of the unit has been the same. Players that have been together from their rookie year and have been getting a little better each year are worth a long look.

Looking at historical situations that have produced long term profits are always good to look at. NFC East teams playing one another and one team is the underdog at home have always done very well. Monday night football home underdogs are a very profitable angle.

Above all be very patient when it comes to week one. Look at some solid angles and keep the number of plays to a minimum.

There are many weeks left and you will have 20 weeks of regular season and another 4 weeks of playoff football. You also have college football and Bowl games into the new year.

I started the season with a 4-0 mark with regular plays and 1-0 with a top play or double unit selection.

If anyone has any questions about my football service please give me an email. I hate to see people lose or get promised the world by well known services. bobscans@ymail.com

I will win you money and give you every single play I have. No special plays that you need to pay more money for or charge for the playoffs, Super Bowl or Bowl games.

I am a single handicapper. I do not have a stable of handicapper so I make sure that someone gives out the other side of my picks. A lot of the big outfits use this type of thing on a regular basis. It is wrong but people keep paying. I know before the season that I will have at most 2 losing weeks the entire year. I know I will hit close to 70% of my Bowl plays. I know I will hit 57 to 60 % of my one unit selections and 65 to 70% of my top selections. No one in the country will hit 90% like some of them advertise. Unless they give out maybe one selection a week.

Have a great day.

Now that is the way to start a season!!!

For those of you who took a chance on my word of guarantee by me and singed up for the entire football season. Good going. Had a very solid 4-0 start, none of the games in question. South Florida +11, winner outright. Northwestern +3.5 going all the way to 5 because of a quarterback injury{of which we knew about but were told that the back up looked great all spring and could be a starter himself} Winner, outright. Minnesota +24 Winner, lost by 2 against a very overrated U.S.C team. The final play for Saturday was the first perfect play of the year. Boise State -3. The game was never in doubt and Boise State went all the way across the country and beat the 19th ranked Georgia with not much trouble.

It was also interesting to see that the 2 teams I said were ranked much to high, USC and Notre Dame had a really tough time with their games on Saturday. U.S.C still has a leaky defense and are very sloppy on offense as well. Notre Dame should not be ranked at all. The media wants to proclaim them back so bad that it does not seem to matter that the fighting Irish are not even set at quarterback. Hopefully someday the Irish will be back on top. Four wins in a row to end last year has ZERO meaning moving forward into this year.

NCAA Football regular 3-0 +3.00 units

NCAA Football TOP 1-0 +2.00 units

Marshall +23 Kickoff 12.30 Pacific time.

Today I have 2 College Football plays that I will put up as soon as the game kicks off.{One more to be posted after kickoff} I am not like any service out there. When you are part of the team, you get all plays all the way through the Super Bowl and all Bowl Games. You do not get sold extra or special plays for more money. So many of these services keep selling you more and more picks and win or lose will always offer the really special plays for more money. It is sad but many people buy into this tactic and could never win enough money to cover all of these fees.

I have 1 unit and 2 unit selections. That is it, 90 percent of my plays are regular one unit selection which will hit at 57-61 %. The 2 unit selections will hit at 65-75%. There is no such thing as a lock. No one play is worth 1000 star play. Someone playing a 100 per game will not put 100k on a play just to make up a bad handicappers plays.

Today in baseball I have 5 plays that offer some value. In baseball I have a record of 146-168 at -.05 unit. This means at 100 per game you would be down 5 small dollars on the season. With the playoffs coming up I still have a great chance to have a good baseball season.

4 plays and a fun day of sports

The San Francisco Giants have waited over a month for Carlos Beltran to show up in San Francisco, well yesterday he did. 4 hits in a game for the first time since 2007 and 3 rbi. The Giants are making their last stand for the season. It should be a fun weekend in San Francisco.

I put out Northwestern this morning at +3.5. They did not have their star quarterback. That does not matter. QBs, running backs and other star players, sometimes do not matter. The only place on the football field I will not mess with is Center. The center controls all line calls and movement.

I have 3 other plays today in College Football I will add them here after the kickoffs of said games. Bob Scans is simply the best football handicapper in the country. Sorry a little shout out there.

No baseball today. This is just a tough time of year to bet any baseball. Every now and again I will find a good one in September but for now enjoy your College sports.

The start of the NCAA football season

A new College Football season is under way and the one free play I gave out for the entire season is well on it's way to a huge win outright. You have to ask yourself, Is Lane Kifin a scumbag or does he continue to run into situations that are beyond him.

2 Days before the start of the USC season a defensive asst coach leaves for personnel reasons. Yeah right my friend. Turns out he had met with NCAA officials about recruiting violations and just how mixed up he and or coach are involved.

Lane has one year at Tennessee and after said year Tennessee gets investigated. Maybe coach did nothing wrong. Maybe it was the coach before him. NO it is Lane. This guy is very talented because no matter how much crap he causes or how much crap he leaves behind, he always gets a better or more high profile job.

Through all of it Lane and his crap has his team ranked very high. The truth is USC is a mess and no matter how much talent or media love USC has, this team will be sloppy and before the end of the season there will be other suspensions via illegal actions or academics.

I had said long ago that the Ohio State mess would get worse before it got better. The NCAA did get it wrong when 3 more Ohio State players were suspended today. The bad acts were accepting at a charity event, baskets that were given to everyone that had different products as advertising gimmick's. In this case the NCAA watch dog was out of bounds. I know the school suspended the players but they are worried about anything that looks out of sorts.

I had not been paying attention to the top 25 other then B.Y.U not being there and Notre Dame getting way to high a ranking. It turns out that Georgia and the mess that is that program are not only in the top 25, but top 20 as well being ranked 19th. I have to admit this is a bit off but the good ol boy's have to have that southern charm.

There has been shady things in College Football since College Football has been around, Now the people involved feel they must talk about it and that is the only thing that has changed. It is to bad.

In the NFL tonight, the Steelers rolled up another easy preseason win. That usually would not be big news but the Steelers had a very easy time of it in preseason. Good teams usually do not play great preseasons. What does this tell us? It tells us that the Steelers might be a very good football team. This means that the 2nd and 3rd stringers are very good football players. The one thing that does make sense, is that they were auditioning back up quarterbacks. Those in the hot seat were playing at the top of their game against the other teams back ups and the numbers could have been false. Watch out for the Pittsburgh Steelers this year.

To all of us having a great college football season.
